Denmark registers more drone activity at military facilities

Denmark registered more drone activity at military sites including its biggest air force base, the latest in a spate of incidents that have raised alert levels in the country.
Drones were observed “at several of Danish Defence facilities last night,” Denmark’s military said in a statement on Saturday. “Several capabilities were deployed,” it said, without elaborating.
Large professional drones have disrupted air traffic at Danish airports this week, prompting police to raise alert levels to the highest in a decade. While authorities haven’t been able to conclude who is behind the incidents, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has linked them to Russia’s efforts to destabilize Europe. Russia has denied any involvement in the Danish events.
One or two drones appeared late Friday at Karup airport and breached airspace of the fenced-off military base, broadcaster TV2 quoted police spokesman Simon Skelkjaer as saying. The drones spotted at Karup didn’t interfere with commercial air traffic, since the airport’s civilian part operates very few flights, TV2 said.
With 3,500 staff, Karup is Denmark’s largest military workplace, according to its website. It hosts the air force’s flight academy and is where the country stores its military helicopters. It also houses parts of the Danish Defence Command.
