FORT WORTH, Texas — Taylor Sheridan is roping one of his longtime “Lioness” actors into “Landman.”

Paramount+ announced Wednesday, Sept. 9, that Michael Kelly is joining the oil drama as a series regular for Season 3. Kelly is slated to play William Crockett, the leader of the largest oil management firm in the world and a titan of industry that exudes efficiency and money.

“Landman” Season 3 is expected to begin production in Cowtown later this month, and Kelly is the first new name announced for the next entry.

“I’ve been biting my tongue yall!!!!” Kelly wrote in an Instagram post. “I am beyond thrilled and excited to be joining the incredible cast over on ‘Landman’ on Paramount+. Thank you to Taylor and everyone for letting me join the party!!”

Michael Kelly joins ‘Landman’ Season 3

Kelly, 57, has been acting since the late 1990s.

He’s best known for roles in “House of Cards,” “Jack Ryan,” The Penguin” and, of course, “Lioness,” where he plays CIA Deputy Director Byron Westfield. The Philadelphia native is also known for appearing in films like “Dawn of the Dead,” “Man of Steel” and “Now You See Me.”

The Star-Telegram briefly spoke with Kelly back in 2024 for “Lioness” Season 2, where he shared his love of Fort Worth’s museums.

“I’ve been all over the world, I’ve been to museums in Paris,” Kelly said. “[The Modern] was one of the most incredible museums I’ve ever been to in my life.”

Kelly also wasn’t shy about his fondness for local restaurants.

“Unbelievable. The best [sushi] I’ve ever had,” Kelly said about Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar. “I went and was blown away.”

“Landman” was co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, and is described as a “modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of West Texas oil rigs.”

“As oil rises from the earth, so do secrets — and Tommy Norris’ (Billy Bob Thornton) breaking point may be closer than he realizes. Facing mounting pressure from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller (Demi Moore), and the shadow of his kin, survival in West Texas isn’t noble — it’s brutal. “Landman” stars Thornton, Moore, Sam Elliott, Ali Larter, Andy Garcia, Paulina Chávez, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, James Jordan, Kayla Wallace, Colm Feore and Mark Collie.
