Bruce Springsteen wants Trump on the 'trash heap of history'

NEW YORK — Bruce Springsteen is disparaging President Donald Trump once more. This time, he’s doing it in Time magazine, which has meant a lot to both septuagenarian public figures throughout their lives.
In an interview published Thursday covering a wide range of topics, the Boss lamented that “a lot of people” believe lies told by the commander in chief, but conceded that many Americans are comfortable with the way Trump practices politics.
Springsteen and Trump locked horns in May when the 76-year-old rocker opened his European tour by telling his English audience his country “is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.”
Trump, 79, responded on social media by calling the “Born in the U.S.A.” singer “a pushy, obnoxious JERK” who was out of line for insulting a U.S. president on foreign soil. He also called the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame veteran “overrated” and made clear he was never a fan.
Springsteen told Time he doesn’t pay much attention to his adversary’s comments, but thinks the president should be impeached.
“If Congress had any guts, he’d be consigned to the trash heap of history,” Springsteen said.
He also complained the Democratic Party doesn’t appear to be the alternative many Americans want.
“There is a problem with the language that they’re using and the way they’re trying to reach people,” he claimed.
Springsteen first appeared on the cover of Time in 1975 riding the success of his breakthrough album “Born to Run.” Musicians didn’t often grace the covers of news magazine 50 years ago. He was touted as “Rock’s New Sensation.”
Trump made the cover of Time’s “Person of the Year” in 2016 and 2024. The president claimed the magazine said he would likely be granted that honor in 2017, but he took a pass. Time said that wasn’t true.
Trump has also lied about holding the record for being on the magazine’s cover and displayed fake Time covers at his golf courses, according to NBC.
