MIAMI — South Florida tennis fans don’t have to wait until the next Miami Open to see world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz.
The Spanish six-time Grand Slam champion, coming off titles at the 2025 US Open and French Open, is one of four stars who will play in the inaugural Miami Invitational, an exhibition tournament Dec. 8 at loanDepot park, home of the Miami Marlins.
The event will also feature rising Brazilian star Joao Fonseca; South Florida resident and world No. 4 Amanda Anisimova, who was a finalist at the US Open and Wimbledon this year; and 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu.
There will be two singles matches, each best-of-3 sets with a 10-point tiebreaker for the third set. The evening will kick off with a matchup between Anisimova and Raducanu, followed by Alcaraz vs. 19-year-old sensation Fonseca, who won South Florida fans’ hearts during the Miami Open in March.
“I love playing in Miami, the fans always bring incredible energy,” Alcaraz said. “I’m thrilled to take the court for this first event at loanDepot park, with João, Amanda and Emma.”
“Sharing the court with Carlos, Amanda and Emma at loanDepot park will be epic,” Fonseca said. “Miami’s fans, especially the Brazilian community, will make this night truly special.”
The night will be particularly special for Anisimova, who lives in Miami Beach.
“Playing in my hometown at loanDepot park with these stars is going to be incredible. Miami always delivers the biggest events, and I can’t wait for December!” she said.
It will be the first tennis event held at the baseball stadium.
“Bringing four of the top talents in the sport of tennis in Carlos Alcaraz, João Fonseca, Amanda Anisimova and Emma Raducanu to loanDepot park for this first-ever event places South Florida at the center court of the global sports stage,” said Miami Marlins President of Business Caroline O’Connor.
“By hosting this premier exhibition, we reinforce our standing as the ultimate destination for the most prestigious events in sports and entertainment, and we’re honored to showcase our ability to deliver world-class experiences for all major events at our one-of-a-kind venue.”
Unified Events is co-hosting the event with loanDepot park and Giovanni Lapentti, a former professional tennis player, is co-organizer.
